2015 Season- Final Poll

Post by ralphwiggum »

Hey guys,
After the initial poll of ending our season for this year, there are still just a few more details to work out for next year in regards to schedule. So one last poll, and we should have this buttoned up....

before voting. would the 10 month league be exclusionary of Nov and Dec? or would it be something else/ other months (i.e. I can see skipping April and September as being nice possibly since those are MGC and MRP months)? For me, Nov and DEC are cold weatehr when I like to be doing more pinball.

If we go with the 10 month format, maybe we could take Sept. off since we have Mad Rollin and end the season in November? December's a nice month to have off with all the Holiday driving plus if "Last Chance" becomes a regular event that would give most of us an event to play competitive pinball in Dec.

Did we ever find a host for this Sept? Are we planning to wrap up the season after that?

side note > "Last Chance" will likely be an annual thing (not 100%, but 98% at this point).

I looked at it as November and December. I suppose it could be any two months though. My guess based on talking to other guys throughout the year is that November and December is the most hectic time with holidays and family.

So, vote how you wish, and we can figure out which two months (if not November and December) we skip if the league decides to go to a 10 month format.

Looking at the other poll, we would end after September and start back up in January. Still need a host, but I know Todd E. mentioned he was more than willing to host around that time frame.

For me, it seems like September is far busier than November. It seems like we always have at least one Wedding in Sept. as well as home Badger Football most weekends that month, as well as MRP, Labor Day, back to school for people with kids, etc. November isn't that bad as long as you stick with the early half of the month before hunting season/Thanksgiving. Mid Nov. might be a good time to wrap up the season and it also gives you a couple month break before starting the new league mid January.

As far as ending this season goes that would be great if Todd E. could host! I say we just pick the day that works best for him and everyone else in either Sept. or Oct and stick with that.

I like the idea of December off with Last Chance and the holidays. Also, Tim E. mentioned possibly hosting in Sept. Maybe he will chime in.

With a 10 month league all but finalized I would like to propose the following:

Current season >> take off September (due to MRP already happening and UW football all other weekends plus other busy stuff for many), find a host for Oct (Todd E), find a host for Nov (?), and take off December (likely will be last chance to fill the void for those needing more pinball).

Next Season >> 10 month season starting January 2015 with September and December being the off months.

I am fine with taking September off, and doing October, but not November. Lets finish this current season at our original 12 month commitment and name an inaugural champ. Based on the first poll, a majority of the league would like to take a break as well.

If people wanted to do something in September, November, and December, they certainly could, but I dont think it should be a league event that effects standings or accumulates league points. While this is a completely casual league, having a few guidelines and understandings up front (like length of season, scoring, schedule, etc.) for those that do wish to take it a little serious (in regards to standings/points/etc.) is important.

My understanding is the tally was 8 for break, 6 for no break? 4 yet to vote?
Pretty evenly divided on break/no break.

If we really need to end in September to keep it on the original 12 month season commitment, that is cool. However, 3 months off is an unwanted duration break for at least 6 of the previous voters. May be a majority, but it is pretty narrow ;)

Oops... Yeah sorry, I was looking at this poll in this thread when I was replying.... 8-6 in the other, certainly not a landslide... Anyways, yeah, it is more so sticking to the terms of what we decided before the league started.....

Well, whenever the exact number of months left is decided for this season, let me know.

Honestly, I can't follow all the back and forth, polls, etc. Blame it on my inability to demonstrate any form of patience.

For what my lousy .02 is worth, I would like to see no more than 2 months off. Seems like some months are better than others depending on your lifestyle, kids, etc - so let's pick the 2 months and move forward.

If we need a final host night or one that is officially outside of the league, I can do it as my basement will have been remodled and all games will be back in. If we need to go to someone who hasn't hosted yet, let's do it and I'll fall in somewhere in 2015.

I agree with Methos - tough to follow all the poll postings. Taking two months off seems a good idea, and December is always a tough time to schedule, but so are summer months (I've got important events so can't make it June or July....wah!!!). September is at Pooleys, October is the EXPO.... I guess we can schedule to miss both of those dates.
