If you click on the picture, it displays them full size and the proper orientation. My guess is that you are using an Iphone to take the pictures? If so, Iphone doesn't like to play nice in the sandbox at times with image rotation. In this case, the preview window (the small thumbnail before you click on the photo to see the full size).
