Stern DMD in a B/W?
Stern DMD in a B/W?
Has anyone tried installing a Stern 5v DMD into a WPC95? I see some on Pinside say yes, others say don't do it.

Re: Stern DMD in a B/W?
i don't see why not. my only concern would be the 5v pull on the (well documented) low 5v issues associated with wpc/wpc95 boards. the data is the same regardless. Colordmd can be moved from stern to wpc to wpc95, etc, etc without any changes in the way the data is received.

Re: Stern DMD in a B/W?
I have done it a bunch of times without issue. I love snapping up those LED DMDs, I put them in all manufacturers game- Gottlieb, DE, etc.. As long as you have a solid 5v, you should be fine. Most of the issues people run into with WPC are due to the age/condition of the boards driving them.
