Tournament Question: Which do you prefer a Trophy or a Plaque?

Just wanted to get some feedback before I decide what to do for NE WI Pinball Tournament.

I will likely give out awards to the top 8 In A, top 4 in B and top 2 in C for the main tournament and top 4 in the mini tournament.

I have people mention to me they prefer trophies because they are cool to display. I have also had people mention that they prefer plaques because they go on the wall and don't have any place for the trophies.

If trophy, would you prefer it be a certain size?

I appreciate any tournament director who is willing to go through the trouble of creating a trophy or plaque. So personally speaking, I would never be disappointed with either because I know that the director went above and beyond to provide them. I kind of think a trophy is more appropriate for larger events or for 1st place and plaques maybe for smaller events or for lower finishes. So in your example, maybe trophy for 1-3 in A, with a plaque for 4-8? But at the end of the day, anything is cool and should be appreciated by the winners.

That said, I actually like medals and going deeper in position. I like medals becuase they are easy to hang on a hook and dont take up too much room. I also like medals because they are cost effective so you can get a few more and possibly go a bit deeper in the pool.

I think you are shooting for 64 people for NEwipin? Top 8 in A, top 4 in B, and top 4 in C is sweet! That is good and deep.

I have found both trophies and plaques never get hung, but medals do for me personally.

64, to many for the house, will start at 40. May increase a little.

I have done the really big 18-22" trophies for 1st-4th. I'm wondering these were maybe to big for people and should dial them back. The only thing is they usually cost similar to the 12" trophies and I always figure bigger is better.

On a serious note, I hate trophies, medals, and plaques.... Maybe when I was 10 I liked them, but what the heck do you do with them when you are older? I think having usable trophies would be cooler.... Something like a nice screened beer glass or something along those lines. I am not sure if those are cost prohibitive or not.

functional trophies are the BEST.

Pint glasses with NEWPIN logos would be great! You can always order with the logo and then sandblast in the "1st" "2nd" "you suck"on the bottom
