Local scoop welder/repair

Post by Hilton »

I have a trough scoop that has a break at a weld and wondered if anyone local does these repairs or can point me in the direction of someone that does?

I think one or two scoops on my TaF are like that too. A weld job would be cheaper than a replacement.

I had a place called Sparks N Splinters repair my TZ Scoop which was broken in the same spot. Only took them a minute or two and they didn't even charge me for the job. Even if they do charge you it's probably not going to be more than $5-$10.

The guy's name I talked to was Don and his email is sparksfab@gmail.com located at 2839 Perry St. in Madison.

Nice! When can I bring it over?

I may have a few others sitting in a drawer that could use a fix. I should have thought to ask you!

I also have a welder (with a stainless steel spool on it) if M doesn't have the correct type of spool already (although I have done much in terms of "delicate" repairs).
Btw what type of metal is it?

It almost looked like aluminum.
Will a magnet stick to it? If a magnet sticks then it's polished carbon steel.

I'm out of town this weekend, but I'll be back on Monday and can do stuff then. I'm setting up to do a big aluminum project, so I should be able to sneak this in while I'm getting everything together.

Looks like aluminum to me, but we can figure that out pretty quick and I can handle it if it's something else.

I am not sure of the material but dont think it is alum. Probably carbonized steel that has been buffed a bit?

I may just take this to the local shop Mike reccomended so i can keep working on this game this weekend?
Keep me posted when you are back Maya and thanks! I am sure I will have other scoops needing help also.
