Robin tweeted this a few days ago-

Fire in the data center is what is being said. He decided to wait things out rather than spin up the site on a new server from backups...

Interesting. Every time I see something like this I think of ransomware. Hope they get everything back up and running soon.

The host where the data server resides had a fire from a backup generator, which in turn started a fire suppression system that poured water all over several servers. This is the host's/data center's second fire in as many months, but at a different facility. The first one burned down the whole data center.

I am a little surprised in this day and age, a data center is doing fire suppression with water, but hey, probably why I don't run a data center.

With good backups, if he got crypto-ed, he would have had the site back up within a day.

Is this what a ban feels like?

Maybe? This feels like the whole room was put in a timeout, and we are all just looking at each other, thinking it was their fault.

What's funny about pinside is I mostly only frequent the threads not at all related to pinball.

I do feel pretty out of the pinball loop these days. Are we still arguing about dimpling?

I think we have moved onto toppers that cost more than machines. Never thought I would think a NOS whitewater topper would be considered a bargain these days.

I too, spend more time in the NFL thread than any other thread there.

I dont have a facebook account so I cant see the comments, but Levi likes to stir shit up for the sake of stirring shit up. A 20k Monster Bash should do that pretty quick.

Best part about Pinside is curating your “ignore” feature. They do a good job with their forum software. Even the quoted responses are blanked out. I haven’t seen a post from Levi, that guy with the Texas Longhorns profile pic, and a few other forum warriors in a long time. It makes the place a lot more tolerable.

I think clear pooling is the new dimpling, right? I’ve got some cognitive disconnect on that one cause I’ve bought a few games since people started complaining, and haven’t personally seen it yet. Might be lucky?

These days I just use Pinside as a research resource. I might be a grumpy old man, but finding worthwhile conversation about pinball there is like a needle in a haystack.

I agree. Levi and others like him are toxic and just reek of negative energy. I put him on ignore several months ago and it's much more tolerable. I heard he did the same thing on RGP years ago.

If you hang out in some of the EM threads, you'll find another experience. It's like a completely different pinball site. :)

Some of the game club threads are OK, too, although I understand that’s only because the moderators pace around, waving their nightsticks.
