Demo man problem

Post by Dredd »

Had an issue with vertical lines in the dmd, reset the ribbon cables and it seemed fine. Was playing a game before I went out of town and the upper flipper stopped working, dmd froze and lost sound. Turned off and back on and still have no sound, vertical lines in dmd, and upper flipper not working. Had to leave so I didn't get to look into it yet. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone or where the best place to start troubleshooting would be. Thanks for any input,

The vertical lines and maybe even the sound are probably due to ribbon cables going bad. If re-seating them fixes the issue for awhile, that is your clue they need to be replaced. The flipper issue is probably either an opto going bad by the cabinet switch or a broken solder connection at flipper coil. It could also be an EOS switch not adjusted correctly or an internal break on a coil winding.

Thanks, was thinking there might be more to it because it all happened at once. Just cables and a diode.
